Frequently Asked Questions

When and where is the QUCL 2025 taking place?

This year, the QUCL is taking place on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. The conference will be held in Stauffer Library's Room 014, located at 101 Union Street, Kingston, ON. 

Are tickets to the QUCL free? 

Yes, tickets to the QUCL are free! You are only asked to reserve your ticket so the QUCL team can organize the conference to the best of their ability. Reserve your ticket on Eventbrite by clicking here

What can you expect when attending the QUCL?

The QUCL will feature one keynote speaker, four panels highlighting undergraduate speakers and their papers, and networking opportunities. 

Will food be served at the conference?

Yes, food will be served! Coffee and tea will be offered in the morning and a lunch spread and pastries will be offered mid-day. If you have any dietary restrictions that might impact your experience at the QUCL, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at qucl@clubs.queensu.ca

How do I know if I am eligible to present a paper at the conference? 

If you want to determine whether you are eligible to be a QUCL speaker, please visit our Submission Information page and scroll through our rubric. Any paper written for an English class can be submitted regardless of the grade awarded. Papers should follow MLA style citations and formatting and should be between 1000 and 2500 words. Presentations should be 10 minutes max. in length. 

Can I attend the conference if I am not part of the English Department?

The QUCL is open to Queen's University students from all departments, majors, and faculties! If you have an interest in engaging literary discussion, we encourage you to attend. 

How should I get to the conference? 

You can access the conference via Kingston Public Transportation or driving. If you choose to drive, we recommend parking on Alfred Street (metered) or in the Kinesiology Building Parking Lot (free on weekends).
